Cooper's Stay in the Hospital.

For Easter this year:

Dear Cooper, What scary time for you and us. On Easter Morning instead of waking up to fun Easter activities, you woke up to a not so fun experience. About 8 in the morning you called Dad and me into the bathroom and pointed to the toilet. There we found a toilet full of blood. Yikes!
We quickly made a few phone calls, and off we went to Primary Children's Hospital.

When we got there they took your vitals and found that you were starting to go into shock, and before we knew it, your whole room was filled with Doctors, and nurses who were hooking you up to heart monitors, and IV's. Mom and Dad and Jacks sat and answered question after question to give the doctors more of an understanding of why we brought you in. After a crazy up and down ride in the ER the Doctors found that you were bleeding in your intestines, and that you needed surgery to fix it.  Before surgery they wanted to do a test to see exactly where the problems was at, after that they admitted you, and prepped you for surgery.
When you were all prepped, they came in and took you down to the OR. Dad, Bro, and I walked with you as far as we could go. We all kissed you, and told you we loved you, and off you went to get fixed. At that moment I didn't want to let you go with out me. I wanted to be right by your side and hold your hand while the Doctors took care of you. But I had to put you in their hands, and try really hard to hold it together.

While you were in surgery, We all went down to the cafeteria to refuel, we knew it was going to be a very long night.
Your surgery lasted about 2 1/2 hours, way too long for a Mama to wait. When you were done, they doctor came out and talked to us, and told us you were doing great, and that we could go and see you. The nurse walked us back to where you were. You were fast asleep and all tucked in. We tried to wake you up to tell you we were right by your side, but you were so worn out from the crazy, crazy day.

We went back to your room, and Daddy and Bro went home to get some sleep. Momma stayed right by your side all night, and made sure you had help when you needed it. You were pretty out of it for a few days.

Monday: You were very still, and in so much pain. It was very hard for you to move. Most of the day you laid in your bed and slept on and off. When you did have to get up, we had to take it very slow and easy. But you were a rock star, and pushed through it all (even when dad made you get up and walk.)
You had a couple of visitors that Day. Gramma Judy and Grandpa Hank came. And Your very Sweet Teacher, Mrs. Jensen, came that night. She sat by you and rubbed your hair and cuddled you. She was very worried about you. She brought you a bag of goodies for when you started to feel better. It was so sweet of her to stop by and see you. We Love her!

Tuesday:
This Day was the hardest. You were in alot of pain, and moving was very difficult. Your Blood and Oxygen levels were down. We had to remind you to breath. It was scary sitting there with you, watching you go through this. I wanted to take it from you, and make it all better for you. As the day went on, you got worse and worse. You started to turn a greenish/ yellowish color. You were not really responding, and the doctors were worried for you, but were doing everything they could to help you get better.
Later that night your Doctor told us that your blood levels were very low, and that he wanted to do a blood transfusion. That is a scary thing to hear. But we knew it was what you needed. Soon after that your Dad and our Good friend Travis Peterson gave you a blessing. And then it was time for  your Transfusion. The nurse hooked you up, and we waited 4 hours for this to be done.
Daddy and I sat right by your side and watched as you started to get color back in your cheeks, and fingers. Our hearts were lifted little by little with every movement you made. The best moment that night was when you gave Daddy and I a faint smile. We were so glad to see this. We knew our sweet Coopie was starting to feel better. Dad went home that night to get some rest, and to be with your Bro.

When the Transfusion was done, you were a new man. You wanted to watch movie after movie, and talk, and NOT go to sleep.  We were up until 5 am. I didn't mind though, I was so glad you were alive, and happy.

(You had alot of visitors this day. Debbie, Madi, and Kayla Scott, Travis and Nicole Peterson, Tibby, Jane, Conner, Rebecca, and Hannah Doud. I know there were more, I wish I could remember them all. We owe a BIG thank you to everyone.)

Wednesday:
This was a much, Much better day. You were doing so much better. You had color, and giggles, and love for us all. Gramma and Grandpa Lee came this day and stayed with you for a few hours so Mom could go and shower, and take a minute to pull herself together. Jackson also spent the day with you. He was so worried about you, he wanted to be right by your side too.

You had a few more visitors this day. Your Friend Landon came, Uncle Joey and Lisa came, Susan Brewer..... again, I know there are more, I should have written names down.

You and Bro watching some Shows....

Still feeling  a bit yuck, but I see your sweet smile babe. So glad.

More Shows... I was hoping you both would fall asleep, but no such luck.

Later that day your Doctor said you could take the Tube out of your nose. You were excited, and were not about to let anyone but you take it out. So you sat and pulled off the tape that held your tube in place, and then slowly you pulled that tube out of your nose. What a rock star you are. You were done being sick..

Proud Moment...

After the tube came out, you were up for a shower. You can't really see it here, but we tried to take a picture of the giant plastic gloves they put on you to protect your IV's, and the Giant plastic covering they put on your tummy to keep your tummy protected.. You looked to cute.

You after your shower. I think you felt great. You were clean, and tube free, and you could have jello to eat. What a treat after days of no food or drink at all.
Such a cute Boy.

Jackson and I went home around 6ish that night so Mom could sleep and be ready for the next day with you.
Thursday:
I took Jacks to school in the morning, and then made my way to you. On my way in you and Dad told me that you might get to go home this day. I didn't know what to think really. I was excited to have you home, but nervous too.
When I got there, we said goodbye to Daddy, and me and you borrowed a wheelchair and I took you for a walk around. You needed to get out and get some fresh air. We went down to the Gift shop and bought a present for a little boy a few rooms down from you. We bought him some slippers and a stuffed animal. Then came back to your room and made him a card and then took him his present.
He was so happy to get a present.

You were doing so great this day. Your Doctor came in and said if you held your lunch down, you could go home. You ordered a Hot Dog, and ate it corn on the cob style.
Your Doctor said if you can eat a hot dog, you can go home!  So I called Dad, and told him we were ready to go. Daddy got there, we packed up, and we were in the car on the way home around 3p.m..

It felt so good to have you in the car with us. We were looking forward to tucking you into our big bed, and having you at home.

You had so many visitors that afternoon. But I think the most excited to see you was your Big Bro. He worried so much about you this whole week. He made you an awesome get well gift during art time at school.

Since then, you have just done better and better. You are back at school, and running around like the energetic boy you are.

We are so grateful you are ok, and Healthy. We love you little Coop.
